A message of Solidarity to:

The Striking Colombian palm oil workers!

 

Through the IUF news, we have learned that thousands of the palm oil workers in the Puerto Wilches district of Colombia are now on strike to defend their collective bargaining, to oppose the lack of health and safety measures at workplace and the spread of precarious work on palm oil farms. As a matter of fact, we know that working in palm oil farms is listed amongst the most though jobs and your work and wages must be secured.

On the other hand, the Colombian workers movement has constantly been attacked and labour activists and leaders have been kidnapped, jailed, tortured and murdered. Colombia has a high rate of violence against labour movement. But, this is a global practice for Capitalist system around the world. Iranian workers are experiencing the same atrocities as you: use of scab labour, attacks by under covers, suppression, imprisonment, and murder. More specifically, in Mahshar Petro-Chemical complex in south of Iran, workers are now on strike for a fair and official collective contract. The capitalist regime of Iran is using similar methods to suppress their strike. Workers’ demands and struggles have never been tolerated by the owners and their states. They have not left workers any choice other than to fight back. With the global economic crisis, this is a global fight for  the world working class and we need a solid and worker to worker international solidarity to win it.
